ABOUT EES SUCCESS ACADEMY

Who We Are

EES Success Academy is a small, intentionally designed K–12 learning community created for students who need a different relationship with school.

We exist for families who recognize that traditional education models do not work equally well for every child — not because students lack ability, but because the environment, pace, and priorities are misaligned. At EES, learning is structured to be clear, purposeful, and connected to real life.

Our program is built around the belief that students learn best when they understand why they are learning something, can see how it applies beyond the classroom, and are given the space to master foundational skills without pressure or stigma. We prioritize confidence, independence, and relevance over seat time, competition, or academic overload.

EES Success Academy is not designed to replicate conventional school systems on a smaller scale. Instead, we intentionally operate differently — with a shorter school day, mastery-based progression, and real-world learning experiences that allow students to earn, create, and take ownership of their work.

At its core, EES is a place where students rebuild trust in learning, rediscover curiosity, and develop the skills needed to navigate both academics and adulthood with confidence.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

EES Success Academy’s mission is to help K–12 students develop academic confidence, practical skills, and multiple income streams as they matriculate through our Back to the Basics, one-room schoolhouse model. We intentionally design learning experiences that connect academics to real life. Students earn grades not only through traditional coursework, but also through creating, publishing, earning, problem-solving, and applying what they learn in meaningful ways. Our goal is for students to leave school capable, confident, and prepared to navigate adulthood with clarity and independence.

Our Vision

EES Success Academy envisions a generation of students who enjoy learning because it makes sense, feels relevant, and produces real results.

We believe school should restore curiosity rather than suppress it, build confidence rather than anxiety, and prepare students for life — not just graduation. Our vision is to reimagine education as a place where mastery matters more than pace, understanding matters more than appearance, and students are trusted with real responsibility.

By grounding learning in strong foundations, creativity, and real-world application, we aim to help students rediscover their love for learning while developing the skills, habits, and self-belief needed to thrive beyond the classroom.

Our Academic Philosophy:
Back to the Basics

EES Success Academy is built on a Back to the Basics academic philosophy that prioritizes strong foundations, clarity, and real understanding over speed, volume, or academic performance for appearance’s sake.

We believe many students struggle — or disengage entirely — not because they are incapable, but because learning has moved too fast, become fragmented, or lost its connection to real life. Our approach slows learning down where necessary so students can build confidence, fluency, and independence before moving forward.

At EES, mastery matters. Students are given the time and support to truly understand what they are learning, apply it in meaningful ways, and retain it long term. Progress is based on demonstrated understanding rather than seat time, grade-level pressure, or comparison to peers.

This philosophy supports:

  • students who need reinforcement without stigma

  • capable learners who benefit from depth rather than constant acceleration

  • motivated students who thrive when learning feels purposeful and achievable

Back to the Basics at EES does not mean low expectations. It means intentional instruction, thoughtful pacing, and learning that is designed to last.

The One-Room Schoolhouse Model

EES Success Academy utilizes a one-room schoolhouse model as a natural extension of our Back to the Basics academic philosophy. Rather than separating students strictly by age or grade level, this model allows students to learn within a shared academic environment while working at individual instructional levels. Students are not completing the same work at the same time; instruction is differentiated, and progress is guided by readiness and mastery, not labels.

This structure reflects how learning historically occurred — and how it often works best. Students benefit from:

  • flexible pacing without stigma

  • reinforcement of foundational skills as needed

  • opportunities to advance efficiently once mastery is demonstrated

  • increased independence and responsibility for their own learning

The one-room schoolhouse model also fosters focus, calm, and peer awareness without competition. Older students naturally model independence, while younger students gain confidence by observing learning as a process rather than a race.

At EES, this structure is intentional. It allows us to meet students where they are academically while maintaining high expectations for understanding, accountability, and growth.

Who This Model Serves Best

EES Success Academy is designed for students who benefit from a learning environment that is calm, purposeful, and mastery-focused. Our model works best for families who value understanding, growth, and real-world readiness over constant comparison, competition, or rigid pacing.

This approach is particularly effective for:

Students who have struggled in traditional school environments, often due to gaps in foundational understanding, inconsistent instruction, learning overload, or environments that created unnecessary stress or anxiety. These students benefit from the opportunity to rebuild confidence and master skills without stigma, pressure, or distraction.

Academically capable and motivated learners who thrive when given the freedom to work as far and as fast as they are ready. In settings where pace, noise, or social pressure overshadow learning, these students may feel constrained or disengaged. At EES, they benefit from a calm, focused environment that allows for independent progress, deeper exploration, and efficient advancement once mastery is demonstrated.

Students who learn best through relevance and application, and who engage more fully when learning is connected to real life, creativity, and meaningful responsibility rather than busywork or constant testing.

Families seeking a peaceful, intentional school environment, including shorter school days, clear expectations, and a setting free from the pressures of bullying, excessive competition, or social distractions that interfere with learning.

EES Success Academy is not designed to replicate traditional school models in a smaller setting. Instead, we intentionally serve students for whom a Back to the Basics, mastery-based approach — combined with calm structure and real-world relevance — is the right fit.

THIS IS HOW WE BLOOM!

The 6 Pillars of Success

EARLY GRADE COMPLETION

01

Students progress based on mastery rather than age or seat time. When students meet grade-level goals ahead of schedule, they move forward. This makes early graduation possible for some students and reinforces responsibility, focus, and ownership of learning.

Preparing Students for the
Real World

At EES Success Academy, preparation for adulthood is not an add-on — it is the organizing principle of the school. We believe students are best prepared for the real world when they are trusted with real responsibility, clear expectations, and meaningful work. Rather than separating academics from life, EES intentionally connects learning to practical application so students understand why what they are learning matters.

Students at EES earn grades not only through traditional academic work, but also through creating, producing, earning, reflecting, and completing long-term projects. Writing is published. Businesses operate in real contexts. Creative work is shared publicly. Responsibilities have consequences, and effort leads to tangible outcomes.

This approach helps students develop:

  • confidence in their ability to learn and adapt

  • responsibility for their work and decisions

  • perseverance through challenge and revision

  • financial awareness and practical problem-solving

  • independence appropriate to their age and readiness

Our goal is not to simulate adulthood, but to prepare students to step into it with competence, self-awareness, and purpose. Students leave EES understanding how to manage their time, complete meaningful work, interact responsibly with others, and apply what they know beyond the classroom.  Preparation for the real world at EES is intentional, structured, and rooted in the belief that students rise when learning is relevant and expectations are clear.

Life at EES Success Academy

Life at EES Success Academy is intentionally calm, focused, and relationship-centered. Our learning environment is designed to reduce unnecessary pressure while maintaining clear expectations, allowing students to engage deeply with their work and take ownership of their growth.

The school day is structured to prioritize meaningful learning over prolonged seat time. Students spend their time engaged in academic study, creative work, independent practice, and real-world projects that require persistence and follow-through. Because instruction is mastery-based, students experience learning as progress rather than comparison.

Students at EES work alongside peers of different ages and levels within a shared environment. This structure encourages independence, responsibility, and mutual respect while allowing students to develop confidence at their own pace. Learning is treated as a process — one that includes revision, reflection, and completion.

Beyond academics, daily life at EES emphasizes character, accountability, and purpose. Students are expected to manage their time, care for shared spaces, engage respectfully with others, and follow through on commitments. These expectations are reinforced consistently, helping students develop habits that support success both in and out of school.

EES Success Academy is a place where students are known, challenged appropriately, and supported as they grow — not only as learners, but as individuals preparing for adulthood.

Diversity Students

Community & Events

Community engagement is an important extension of learning at EES Success Academy. Students regularly participate in events and experiences that allow them to share their work, practice responsibility, and engage meaningfully with others beyond the classroom.

EES hosts and participates in events that highlight student growth and completion, such as author showcases, graduation ceremonies, student markets, and exhibitions of creative and entrepreneurial work. These experiences reinforce accountability, communication, and follow-through while allowing students to see the real-world impact of their efforts.

Community events are intentionally designed to:

  • celebrate completed academic and creative work

  • provide authentic audiences for student projects

  • reinforce professionalism and responsibility

  • connect students to families, partners, and supporters

  • strengthen confidence through public engagement

Participation in community events is not about performance or competition. It is about showing up prepared, honoring commitments, and learning how to present work with pride and purpose.

Through these shared experiences, students learn that their work matters — not only within school, but within the broader community they are preparing to serve.

Leadership

EES Success Academy is guided by experienced educators and professionals committed to thoughtful instruction, high expectations, and real-world relevance.

The school was founded by Dr. Candace Jones, an educator, author, and curriculum developer with extensive experience designing mastery-based, real-world learning environments. Her work centers on academic clarity, confidence-building, and preparing students for adulthood through intentional structure and responsibility.

Leadership at Success Academy is grounded in:

  • instructional integrity and consistency

  • student accountability and personal growth

  • alignment with the school’s mission and academic philosophy

  • responsible innovation rooted in proven practice

As the school grows, leadership remains focused on preserving the intentional design of EES Success Academy while supporting educators and ensuring students experience a stable, high-quality learning environment aligned with the school’s values.
